SATO Laboratory has three main components;
"Organic Synthesis", "Computational Chemistry" and "Biochemistry".
Let's work together to elucidate the biosynthesis of natural products with a combined aproarch of theoretical chemistry and experimental chemistry!

Our Research

Message

In our laboratory, we are engaged in the study of natural products (natural organic compounds) produced by plants and microorganisms. There are many natural products around us, such as tetrodotoxin (pufferfish poison), streptomycin (antibiotic), and anthocyanin (flower pigment), and they are deeply related to our social life.
However, it is not completely clear how these compounds are synthesized in plants and microorganisms. In Sato Laboratory, we are conducting experiments based on theoretical predictions from computational chemistry to elucidate the biosynthesis of natural products.
